Samuli Helavuo was born in Finland. He graduated from Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts as Bachelor of Design in 2014. Currently he works as freelance designer in Helsinki and studies a Master's degree in design at Aalto University. He is also business college graduate and he has worked ten years in sales and marketing. He worked closely with architects and interior architects managing large furnishing projects and doing window and door sales.
Samuli is an observer who is widely interested in how the world works. He loves quietness and sense of timelessness. As a designer he wants to challenge himself, find new aspects and increase sustainability. He is interested in functional design combined with aesthetic pleasure. His strengths are understanding of structures and functions. Samuli’s goals are to improve the quality of life, solve problems and increase freedom of choice. Internal flame and positive energy motivates him.
Samuli has received awards and prizes internationally and in Finland. In 2015 he was awarded the Muoto 2015 - Promise of the Future-prize, at the annual design gala celebrating the best of Finnish design. In 2014 he received Special Judges Award in International Ceramics Competition Mino in Japan, Northern Lighting Design Award in Norway and the 1st prize in Habitare Design Competition Mayday in Finland.
